Electrobones is the world’s first wooden sensor that uniquely combines a drum trigger with an acoustic instrument pickup. Made specifically for hand and finger drummers, it offers exceptional sensitivity to subtle touch and dynamics. Its natural wood construction not only provides warmth and resonance but also mounts easily on acoustic instruments, seamlessly integrating into any MIDI setup.

Electrobones was created out of the need for a more refined, expressive alternative to conventional drum triggers. Most existing options feel artificial, made from synthetic materials that lack the sensitivity required for hand and finger drumming. Crafted from natural wood and inspired by traditional joinery techniques, Electrobones features a seamless, non-adhesive design that enhances both feel and resonance. More than just a drum trigger, it also functions as a high quality acoustic pickup, perfect for any acoustic instrument; delivering warmth, versatility, and authentic sound in any setting.

Rooted in the craftsmanship of traditional wood joinery, Electrobones features a seamless two piece mahogany shell designed to enhance resonance, sensitivity, and tonal response. After extensive experimentation with different woods, mahogany emerged as the ideal choice for its warmth, clarity, and dynamic character. Each unit is CNC milled for precision, then individually hand sanded, oiled, wired, assembled, and tested at our Brooklyn studio.  Its ultra thin wooden casing is among the thinnest available in the world of acoustic pickups, allowing the sensor to remain lightweight, natural, and highly responsive without interfering with the instrument’s vibration or playability. With a 2.2 inch diameter, Electrobones captures a broad acoustic field with rich detail and warmth, revealing subtle textures and tonal nuances often lost with conventional pickup systems.

After extensive testing and experimentation with various MIDI interfaces, we found eDRUMin to be the most reliable and expressive solution for Electrobones. Its ultra-low latency, customizable velocity curves, and intuitive mapping system make it a perfect match for translating finger-tapped rhythms into dynamic digital performances. Whether used in DAWs like Ableton Live, Logic, or Pro Tools, eDRUMin brings out the full potential of Electrobones as both an acoustic and electronic instrument, bridging the gap between traditional percussion and modern music production.

The foundation of Electrobones is deeply rooted in the founder’s lifelong journey as a hand/finger percussionist. Inspired especially by the rich rhythms of Indian tabla and the vibrant energy of Rajasthani khartal, the vision was to bring these traditional instruments into the modern world through electrification. This desire to blend ancient musical heritage with contemporary innovation led to the creation of Electrobones, an instrument designed to capture subtlety, warmth, and expressiveness, while opening new possibilities for artists across all styles.

Discover the exhilarating fusion of drumming, yoga, martial arts all-in-one, in our “Speedbag Drummer” an unparalleled opportunity to master rhythmic patterns while incorporating the dynamic use of a speed bag. Ideal for music enthusiasts and those seeking to enhance their coordination skills, this class introduces techniques to refine hand/eye coordination, expand peripheral vision, and understand power dynamics.

Art of Tabla is a specialized music academy focused on the instruction and performance of the Tabla, an Indian percussion instrument. ts unique curriculum is designed to train students in the intricate hand and finger techniques that foster cognitive balance and enhance meditative practices through rhythm.

Tabla is considered to be one of the most expressive melodic percussion instruments known to man. Its tonal qualities range from an array of  subtle micro-tonal textures, melodic water-like resonance and pulsating walking bass lines. This class is geared towards the exploration of mnemonic syllables as a musical language, observation of movement by developing left/right brain independence, hand/finger touch sensitivity, relaxation by melodic and rhythmic entrainment. We offer a holistic approach to learning tabla while preserving the teachings and practices of Shabd & Nāda Yoga.

Siddharth J. Mehta is the founder and teacher of Art of Tabla, bringing over two decades of experience studying, performing, and teaching Tabla. His journey began in 1990, inspired by his father’s introduction to the Masters of Percussion in Philadelphia, where he first encountered the depth and expressive power of Indian percussion.  Sid teaches Tabla as both a traditional musical discipline and a hands-on exploration of rhythm, movement, and sound. His classes focus on developing technique, rhythmic language, coordination, and a deeper connection to the instrument.

Khartal, a traditional Indian percussion instrument, shares a rhythmic lineage with spoons, bones, and castanets but remains largely unknown outside its cultural roots. One of the oldest handheld rhythm instruments from India, the Khartal is made up of four flat wooden pieces: two held between the thumbs and two resting on the fingers.  Compact, travel-friendly, and crafted to endure for generations, the Khartal is both a musical tool and a timeless cultural artifact.

Klaprz is a modern percussion instrument that reimagines the ancient art of clappers, drawing inspiration from the Indian khartal and clapper traditions from around the world. Designed for today’s musicians yet rooted in timeless rhythm, Klaprz combines global heritage with innovative craftsmanship.

Flakeb00k is a counter-response to the digital chokehold. We emerged from the blackout; where voices get buried by algorithms and art gets filtered into silence. In a time when truth is shadowbanned and creative expression is throttled, we push back through bold, raw, unfiltered visuals.
